Wild bee balm or bergamot is a wildflower native to North America from Quebec to the the NW Territories and BC and south to Georgia, Texas, Arizona, Idaho and Washington.

Often used as a honey plant, this medicinal plant in the mint family can also be used as a garden ornamental. It is a species with much variation and the colors of its blooms can range from almost white, to pink, to lavender.

Wild bee balm is rhizomatous and often grows in clumps. In the wild Monarda fistulosa grows in rich soil in fields and clearings. The best part is that they'll bloom reliably for you from June to September.
